About the Event

Session Description: Exploring strategies to unlock the potential of students with autism in the Orff Schulwerk classroom.  Participants will discuss the experiences of students with autism in the special education classroom, adaptations for movement and instrument playing activities, classroom management, active learning strategies, and working with instructional assistants in an Orff Schulwerk environment.

Jennifer Sheridan is the music teacher and choral director at Coopertown Elementary School in the Haverford Township School District. She has been teaching general music for 18 years. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Scranton, earned a Master of Arts degree in theatre from Villanova University, and her teaching certificate at Immaculata University.   She completed Orff Schulwerk Certification Levels I, II, and III at West Chester University.  Jennifer is the Past President of the Philadelphia Area Orff Schulwerk Association.  She is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, where she has presented at the district and state levels, and National Association for Music Education.  Jennifer served as the Local Conference Co-Chair for the 2016 American Orff Schulwerk Association National Professional Development Conference.
